Tony Okpanachi is the Managing Director/CEO of the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN), bringing over 30 years of seasoned banking experience to his role. Prior to his current position, he held key leadership roles at Ecobank across Nigeria and East Africa, including Deputy Managing Director at Ecobank Nigeria and Managing Director at Ecobank Kenya and Malawi. His strong academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Development Economics from Nile University, an MBA from Manchester Business School (UK), an MSc in Economics from the University of Lagos, and a BSc in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Under his visionary leadership, DBN has emerged as a critical catalyst for empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria, disbursing billions of naira in financing support and creating significant employment opportunities. Notably, his commitment to sustainable development is reflected in DBN’s accreditation by the Green Climate Fund, positioning the bank to drive climate financing initiatives in the country. Recognized as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Tony Okpanachi is celebrated for his innovative approach and unwavering dedication to transforming Nigeria’s development finance landscape.
