N Seven Nigeria Limited, the majority shareholder of Guinness Nigeria Plc, has acquired an additional 550,092 ordinary shares in the brewer through open-market transactions on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).
According to a regulatory filing released on the exchange, the shares were purchased at prices ranging from ₦356.40 to ₦384.80 per share, with the transaction reported at an aggregate average price of ₦367.40 per share.
The acquisition comprised several transactions, with the largest tranche involving 498,973 shares purchased at ₦384.80 per share. Another 30,000 shares were acquired at ₦375 per share, while smaller purchases were executed at various prices between ₦356.40 and ₦374 per share.
The latest purchase further increases N Seven’s equity position in Guinness Nigeria and highlights continued activity by the company’s major shareholder to consolidate its ownership.
N Seven operates within the broader Tolaram Group ecosystem, which became the controlling shareholder of Guinness Nigeria following Diageo Plc’s sale of its 58.02 per cent stake in 2024. Tolaram subsequently increased its interest through a mandatory takeover offer to minority shareholders.
The latest share purchase comes as Guinness Nigeria continues to operate amid challenging macroeconomic conditions, including foreign exchange pressures, rising production costs and higher raw-material expenses affecting Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods sector.

The additional acquisition could be viewed as a continued expression of confidence by the company’s core shareholder in Guinness Nigeria’s long-term prospects and ability to maintain its position in Nigeria’s competitive beverage market. The transaction also demonstrates ongoing activity in the Nigerian equities market, particularly among major shareholders seeking to increase their exposure to listed companies through secondary-market purchases.
