China in partnership with Nigeria has proposed a smart farming industrial estate in the Iragbiji community, Boripe LGA, Osun State for this unique agro-business hub.
At the palace of the Aragbiji of Iragbij, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, Mr Chang Daniel the Chairman of China International Business and Development Corporation (CIBDC), said agricultural practice for food production, supply and consumption in human life remained essential. According to him, innovation in modern agricultural practice, mechanised farming and technology has revolutionized China the way it is today and that with technology and digitization, they would replicate Chinese industrial reforms in the space of 5 years.
Dr Chidi Ulelu, the president of Nigeria-China Investment Club in company of Hon. Bola Ojo, a Legislative Aide at the Nigerian senate, also gave a brief address. He stated that the International Investment and Business Corporation (IIBC) would ensure complete generation of electricity for the community added to the Smart Farming Industrial estate that would be built in Iragbiji.
The Executive Director, Uplifting Youth Through Agriculture, Ambassador Princess Afoma Adigwe also spoke that the community would play host to the first Pilot Uyota Smart Farming Industrial Estate with “Live, Learn and Work” as model of the Agro-centre where youth would be trained and subsequently engaged in agro-business production, processing, packaging and exportation.
Oba Olabomi with expression and appreciation commended the team for their goodwill for proposing to establish the agro-business hub in his community and the establishment would benefit the general public and the students of the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies.
