A major boost to West Africa’s trade and supply chain ecosystem has emerged as Lagos Free Zone (LFZ) and CEVA Logistics announced a joint venture (JV) aimed at enhancing integrated logistics solutions across Nigeria and the wider region.
The agreement, recently approved by Nigeria’s Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), will see CEVA Logistics take a majority stake in the newly established entity, signaling deeper private sector investment in the region’s logistics infrastructure.
The partnership combines CEVA’s global logistics expertise with LFZ’s strategic infrastructure, including its proximity to the Lekki Deep Sea Port, positioning the venture as a key gateway for international trade into West Africa.
According to LFZ Managing Director and CEO, Adesuwa Ladoja, the initiative is designed to create a “one-stop solution” for manufacturing and trade businesses by integrating port access, industrial facilities, and efficient logistics services.
A key feature of the joint venture is the development of a globally operated warehouse facility within the free zone. This will enable importers and multinational manufacturers to efficiently access markets across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), benefiting from streamlined cargo handling and distribution systems.
The project is also expected to leverage the Lagos Free Zone’s Green Channel logistics corridor, which allows cargo movement between Lekki Port and the free zone within hours instead of days reducing costs and improving supply chain efficiency.
Speaking on the partnership, Jean-Baptiste Rambaud, Vice President of Air and Ocean Product at CEVA IMEA, described the venture as a strategic investment that will provide seamless logistics services for global clients exporting into West Africa.
Industry observers note that the collaboration reflects a broader push to position Nigeria as a regional logistics hub, leveraging modern port infrastructure and special economic zones to attract global manufacturers and investors.
